About Turquoise Island, Westbourne Grove

Turquoise Island is situated on the corner of Westbourne Grove and Colville Road in Notting Hill, London, UK. And it deserves to be in your life.

On hearing that their local traffic Island was to host a ‘Portaloo’, the aghast residents of Westbourne Grove decided they could come up with something rather more pleasant. Architect Piers Gough was commissioned to design a more elegant solution for the site. The result was Turquoise Island.

Turquoise Island is a multi-functional building set on a triangular, pedestrianised island, incorporating a florist shop, a clock and a public convenience, wrapped in vibrant turquoise tiles and capped with an ornate, fan-like awning.
